The terror and horror of five years ago should not be slighted. eyesthatslay did an icon post (of very very tasteful commemorative icons) for 9/11 icons. A canadian poster (I only refer to country of origin to indicate that the commenter is not a US citizen) referred to wishing people could just move on. Here is the specific comment.


Casey did an interesting post on 9/11 over at Maisonbisson.com. It poses some interesting questions and in some ways relates to the incredibly rude commentor on Eye's journal.

To say that just because 3000 people died in this tragedy should make it more powerful than events where fewer people died is just as foolish as to say that events where more people died are more powerful. A direct quote from that commenter, further down the page is this, "Tell me, did those wives and children in Iraq have anything to do with 9/11?! NO, of course they didn't but they got bombed to hell anyway." This is a good point.

The "war" on Iraq, originally was flawed. The only reason we could have KNOWN that there were WMD (weapons of mass destruction) over there would be because we had the RECIEPTS from when we sold it to them. Not to mention that Sadaam? yeah, we put him in power, or at least Bush Sr. did.

Can someone clear this up for me?
Originally we fought Iraq... and that was because they were at fault for 9/11 (supposedly) right? and then we moved into Afghanistan, and now we are fighting, who?

Regardless. When England reigned supreme, everyone cared about England. As Casey refers to, when the Cold War was ongoing, the Soviet Union was king. Now its the United States' turn. I don't think we deserve it, but we are on top right now. Sept. 11th was a BLOW to us, but in a far more psychological way than in a physical way. (If part of my discussion here sounds a bit preachery, yes I did discuss this with Lynn on the ride in to work today).

Anyways, This is what I wanted to say. 9/11 was a horrible event, even if it was not to the same scale as the India Tsunami. It was an attack on our country and made headlines and changed the way our media and nation worked.
There were consequences and many people's lives changed. Regardless on my feelings for Bush, I do not feel that people should be expected to get over sept 11th in 5 years. It is still a fresh wound for our country. I am sure that every anniversary for the next 15 will be fresh and it will take a long time for these wounds to heal.

In the meantime, can we PLEASE start using our country's vast resources and intelligence to find ALTERNATIVE fuel than Fossil??

I really dislike it when people do pointless comments. I dont mean here in eljay world, where people, like me, are commenting on your life. You break up with someone and say you are fine, but ill still do a comment saying, well as long as you are happy, something like that.
What i mean, like over here at Zach's site, why bother with a comment like "doesnt work."
Okay, so if you say, well it didnt work for me. Okay, but doesnt work.
does that mean that you work for a cell phone company and you know that it doesnt work with any cell phone ever and it is just a FREAK incident that it works for zach? OR that you tried it and it didnt work for you?
What it means to ME is that you are a dink who can't leave a full comment.
Interestingly, Zach added an update saying, "If you succeed or fail, leave a comment with phone and model so others will know what results to expect!." I think that is a nice touch!

Another note, in TWO different blogs (Zach's and Casey's) it loads the articles and THEN loads a background color (that makes it easier to read). I know they both use Wordpress. HOWEVER Sara's is ALSO wordpress, and yet, not a problem.

Nosheep.net and Maisonbisson.com are both current interest blogs, with Nosheep.net having a strong comicbook theme and Maisonbisson.com having a strong political and computer focus.

One of the few high school friends that I like and talk to, hakerh did a post today about the CDC's new plan on how to view women. This article refers to how ALL women should be seen has being "pre-pregnant." These are just recommendations of course, and the CDC is not really enforcing this at all, but women who want to have kids should do what they say. But if 1/4 of all pregnancies are accidental and unplanned, and the woman isnt planning or doesnt want kids, then why should she take Folic Acid supplements, for a baby that isnt desired?

Now.... If you are ever planning on having kids, then you should take all the vitamins, etc etc etc. If you are not planning on having kids but are not being responsible in your sexual exploits, then do whatever.
WHERE is the plan for me to get all that junk removed from my body?

Million Little Pieces by James Frey was discovered to have a few gaping holes in his story. As a memoir, it is reliant upon his own memories. However, the arrest of him by a policer where he wasnt high on crack and wasnt violent (very calm actually) is a slight error that does make one doubt his work.
I personally feel that maybe it should have been checked more HOWEVER it was (apparently but i didnt read it) a great story and "memoirists are narcissists" as one reviewer stated so if they are saying they are druggies, then GOSH DARN IT they oughta be the best druggies ever!

This Book is a different story. The main "change" in the original issue, do you know what it is? right, he said he was under 15, in the original edition, but they did some more research, and *shock* he was just under 16!!!! so the BIG fucking change, oh lordy right, HIS FUCKIGN AGE!!!! ok i mean get over yourselves
so because he got his age wrong, by all of 6 months, means it should be fake?
and um, WHO labels Night as fiction? Dawn is fiction you dumbasses, but Night isnt.
they did the new translation because the english original translation, which Elie's wife had never read, wasnt actually that good. so when mrs. weisel did the new translation, Elie said some words like "copulate" should ACTUALLY have been "caressed" yeah
wow! fiction alert!!!

Now, smokinggun.com is very important, and they are NOT involved with the issues surrounding Night, only Million Little Pieces, but now EVERYONE is a smoking gun and freaking Oprah, with her stupid club that i hate and if she is gunna DO a club why doesnt she do UNKNOWN stuff right? actually give credence to good literary works that are NOT already best sellers, ugh

This guy, Carson Williams, in Ohio creates a light display (this year it took 3 months to setup) that is chroreographed to music.
It is completely amazing. (There are others that do this, but no one else is as impressive. These look Fake because they are so good.)
He broadcasts his music on a low freq. radio station, so that neighbors are not annoyed by it. Isnt that nice?!?
Sadly however, he was forced to close down because of traffic congestion :(.
Hopefully he will be able to work with people to get the traffic down, and get the show, back up!
