"The joining of hands is highly underrated in the acts of intimacy. You kiss acquaintances and colleagues, casually to say hello or good-bye. You might even kiss a close friend chastely on the lips. You might quickly hug anyone you knew. You might even meet someone at a party, take him home and sleep with him, never to see him or hear from him again. But to join hands and stand holding each other that way, with the electricity of possibilities flowing between you? The tenderness of it, the promise of it, is only something you share with a few people in your life."

accomplished
That is what it felt like today. I woke up at 7:45 (supposed to be 6:30, thanks caleb) and then was on the road by 8:30 am. Arrived in Hamden at 12:20 (we made great time). Then had lunch, and chatted for a little bit. Back on the road at 3:30, and arrived home at 6:50.
BUT my grandparents were well overall, and they LOVED my hair :) they are So cute. if i couuld FIND my freaking cord, id post pics of them :(
So just under 4 hours of driving. UGH.
But then I had lasagne and Grey's Anatomy. I have gotten to the end of disc 4 (which is leading to Izzy's bold... move) and yeah. oh my god. Also saw the southern belle pregant mother episode, which is just So sad.
i have started a new project. its called www.bookembargo.com and i will be doing weekly posts about new books in the publishing world. The embargo refers tothe concept of a laydown date (like how you cant buy harry potter BEFORe july 7th 2007, and so on. Harry Potter actually is the reason there is now an international laydown on so many books. neat huh?)
so anyways. thats gunna be cool. Z is helping me set it up, and it will be running ads, so with every clicky, i make money! yay
and over to the locked doors!

As everyone knows, I have been reading Anne Brashares' series, Sisterhood of the traveling pants. I have been LOVING them. They deal with SERIOUS issues, and they do it while emphasizing friendship and family. There is sex in the first and second, but it isnt a flip decision, and there are consequences. It is a great series. I just started book 3. I am only a few chapters into it, but already she is setting up some serious relationship testers.
There will be a book four, Forever in Blue for all the other fans out there.
Also read Tattoo by Barnes. This felt like a mix between Sisterhood and buffy. It is about 4 girls who get these magical tattoos and then have to find a Mystical killer. the author does a really good job with the friendships, plus tying in mythology to the story. Definitely a catch, when it comes out, which isnt for a bit.
Finally, Traveler by John Twelve Hawks. This is about how the government is going CRAZY with too much but also ties in the idea of how there are these "travelers" whose "soul" can travel into another dimension. It is the first in a series, though no idea when the next is coming out, but yeah, there are some AWESOME subplots! It had a slow start, but you definitely get into it.
Can you keep a secret? by Sophie Kinsella is an oldie but a goodie. Definitely Brain candy, it is just a FUN FUN book that i absolutely loved. This woman is on a plane, a little drunk, and tells ALL of her secrets to a guy. Not big important ones, but the little things you DONT tell people. so it is just a good time. and you should enjoy it!
Thats all for the book reviews
hope you enjoyed!

predatory
Million Little Pieces by James Frey was discovered to have a few gaping holes in his story. As a memoir, it is reliant upon his own memories. However, the arrest of him by a policer where he wasnt high on crack and wasnt violent (very calm actually) is a slight error that does make one doubt his work.
I personally feel that maybe it should have been checked more HOWEVER it was (apparently but i didnt read it) a great story and "memoirists are narcissists" as one reviewer stated so if they are saying they are druggies, then GOSH DARN IT they oughta be the best druggies ever!
However, Night by Elie Weisel.
link here to story: ( Read more... )
This Book is a different story. The main "change" in the original issue, do you know what it is? right, he said he was under 15, in the original edition, but they did some more research, and *shock* he was just under 16!!!! so the BIG fucking change, oh lordy right, HIS FUCKIGN AGE!!!! ok i mean get over yourselves
so because he got his age wrong, by all of 6 months, means it should be fake?
and um, WHO labels Night as fiction? Dawn is fiction you dumbasses, but Night isnt.
they did the new translation because the english original translation, which Elie's wife had never read, wasnt actually that good. so when mrs. weisel did the new translation, Elie said some words like "copulate" should ACTUALLY have been "caressed" yeah
wow! fiction alert!!!
Now, smokinggun.com is very important, and they are NOT involved with the issues surrounding Night, only Million Little Pieces, but now EVERYONE is a smoking gun and freaking Oprah, with her stupid club that i hate and if she is gunna DO a club why doesnt she do UNKNOWN stuff right? actually give credence to good literary works that are NOT already best sellers, ugh
its all annoying to me, even if i cant find the words
read the article, because wow. pathetic much
